Finished boat race day 8/13/2011
Race day is here. Our boat finished first in the Brigantine Division. We had eight men paddling and took the lead at the start. The Del Webb ladies in the "Flying Dragon" were right behind us in second place. The ladies also garnered the coveted "Peoples Choice Award" for the most money collected for their charity "Old Salem Fire Rescue".

Construction day 20 - 8/1/2011
Turned the boats today and started working on the decorations for the men's boat. Added skull & crossbones cutouts to the sides. Cannons were added to the bow deck. Determined how we are going to attach the 1" PVC pipe mast. Dave is buying some black spray paint for plastic. Jack made a "crows nest" for the top and we also have a "Jolly Roger" flag. Dave started designing some additional cardboard add-ons. We are back to a 3 day a week work schedule.

Construction day 19 - 7/29/2011
Added cardboard angles to both keels for more support when trailering. Larry Williams is constructing carpeted pads to support the boat better. Will prime new cardboard over the weekend so we can flip the boat on Monday and work on our decorations.
Trial launch day 7/26/2011
The boat was launched and a trial paddle was made. Performed well, sat well in water as predicted. Some soft spots occurred on both keels where we used the 2 x 4's to carry it. Used Bob Pluta's boat trailer to transport it to the Del Webb boat ramp.
Construction day 18 - 7/21/2011
